A Week of New Desserts: Day One

We have lots of birthdays in the first week of December; mine, a brothers, a dear friends, and two uncles. So rather than making just four desserts, I decided to make seven; an entire week of desserts! For a fun twist, I'm making seven desserts that I. have. never. made. before. So, this should be interesting.

I went to TastyKitchen and found 12-15 recipes that I thought looked good. I eliminated several that I knew we didn't have the ingredients to make or were too complicated.

I decided to start with the Brown Sugar 'n Orange Juice Cake and it was quite a hit with my visiting brother and sister-in-law as well as the family. It has been way too long since I've had an orange cake of any kind, so this was even more delish.

Instead of using a cake mix, I made a super simple white cake recipe that we have, so technically, that part wasn't new, but it still worked just fine. Our cake pans are larger than 9x13, so we had plenty leftover for breakfast the next day!
