I'm not ashamed to say that I hit the "mark all as read" button many times without even reading the blog posts. I didn't have time.
That made me stop and think about the blogs I was reading. A lot of them I followed because I entered a giveaway at some point over the last few years. Some of them had a nice project and I followed hoping for another nice project to be posted. Sometimes it happened. Sometimes it didn't. But I was still following.
Enough is enough.
I went through my blogs and trimmed a lot out. Some had become completely un-inspiring. Some posted things that I just didn't want to read about anymore. And, still some just didn't apply to me in life right now.
I now have 97 subscriptions; including my familys and friends' blogs. I'm guessing that I had twice that many when I first noticed that it was a problem. But, it's manageable now (I made that word up!). Many of those blogs don't post very often - a couple times a week, a few times a month or a few times a year. Yes, I do leave some stockpiled until I have more time, but I can usually get through all of them in an hour. I'm no longer afraid of what I'll find when I log in anymore.
I'll leave you with this quote that I found on the internet:
Time is free, but it's priceless. You can't own it, but you can use it. You can't keep it, but you can spend it. Once you've lost it you can never get it back. -Harvey MacKay
